About Mikheal

Mikheal Deans was born in Jamaica and raised between the cultural rhythms and everyday realities of the island. He is the son of Valrie Gayle and Peter Deans, both from Clarendon, Jamaica. His upbringing within this environment would later inform the emotional and social undercurrents present in his work.

From an early age, Deans demonstrated a natural inclination toward drawing, using it as both a form of observation and expression. Without formal training in fine arts, he developed his practice through discipline, repetition, and independent study, later complementing this foundation with training in animation and visual communications.

His work explores the human condition through figurative studies, often focusing on intimacy, vulnerability, and psychological presence. Working primarily in pencil and traditional media, Deans emphasizes craftsmanship and direct engagement with the subject, positioning drawing as both a technical and emotional act.Based in Jamaica, Deans continues to build a body of work that engages both local and international audiences, contributing to contemporary Caribbean art discourse while expanding his presence across digital and institutional platforms
