ABOUT US

Kheal’s Post is an independent publishing platform founded in 2023 by Jamaican contemporary artist Mikheal Deans. Created as a digital space for culture, art, and society, the platform documents and explores contemporary creative expression within Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. The publication merges editorial storytelling with visual culture, creating a platform that exists between independent media, contemporary art, and public discourse. Rooted in a commitment to thoughtful cultural documentation, Kheal’s Post serves as both an archive and a growing voice for contemporary Caribbean creativity.

THE CULTURAL COLOURS AND FIBRES OF JAMAICA

Lucille Junkere’s work continues to challenge, document, and reframe conversations around identity, history, and the lasting impact of colonial systems on culture and knowledge. Her research explores how colonial renaming and the erasure of indigenous plant identities mirror the wider erasure and denigration of African identity, spirituality, and relationships with the environment. Through this body of work, Lucille invites viewers to reconsider the systems that shaped our modern social and economic realities while reconnecting with histories and knowledge systems that were intentionally suppressed. For those interested in experiencing the exhibition more deeply, private viewing and artist talk tickets are available through the invitation.
