Co-Curator — Manifestations Student Exhibition, School of Visual Arts
Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts
In 2019, Mikheal Deans served as a co-curator for Manifestations, the annual School of Visual Arts student exhibition at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. The exhibition featured works from students across multiple disciplines including painting, sculpture, photography, illustration, installation, fibre arts, fashion, and digital media.
The exhibition was developed through the Introduction to Curatorial Studies course led by Caribbean curator and art historian Veerle Poupeye, and explored emerging artistic voices within contemporary Jamaican and Caribbean visual culture.
As part of the curatorial team, Deans contributed to the organisation, conceptual development, and presentation of the exhibition, gaining early experience in exhibition-making, curatorial collaboration, and contemporary art discourse.
Manifestations was presented at the CAG[e] Gallery, located within the Edward Seaga Library and Resource Centre on the college campus.
